Etsy Share & Save: How the 4% Transaction Fee Rebate Works for EU Sellers
Etsy’s Share & Save program offers a 4% rebate on the transaction fee when a buyer clicks an eligible affiliate link and makes a purchase in your shop within 30 days.
Note: The exact terms of this program are not yet independently verified against the official Etsy help page. This article explains how Share & Save generally works based on available information — the specific percentage and rules should be confirmed on the official Etsy site before making decisions.
How Share & Save works
When you share a custom Etsy affiliate link (through programs like Etsy’s own creator program or third-party platforms), and someone clicks it and buys from you within 30 days, Etsy gives you back 4% of the transaction fee that would otherwise go to the referrer.
In practice:
- Normal transaction fee: 6.5% of the sale price
- With Share & Save: you still pay 6.5%, but 4% of that 6.5% is rebated back to you
- Net effect: your effective transaction fee drops slightly — from 6.5% to about 6.24% of the sale price
The rebate is not cash — it’s typically applied as a credit against future Etsy fees.
A concrete example
You sell an item for €30:
| Without Share & Save | With Share & Save |
|---|---|
| Transaction fee: 6.5% × €30 = €1.95 | Transaction fee: 6.5% × €30 = €1.95 |
| No rebate | Rebate: 4% × €1.95 = €0.08 |
| Net fee: €1.95 | Net fee after rebate: €1.87 |
The saving is small per order (about €0.08 on a €30 sale), but it adds up over hundreds of orders.
Does this affect our calculator?
No. The Etsy fee calculator on sellerfees.eu shows the standard transaction fee of 6.5%, which applies to every sale. Share & Save is a separate rebate program — it reduces fees after the fact, like a discount, rather than changing the base rate.
If you actively use Share & Save links, you can mentally subtract roughly 0.26 percentage points from your effective transaction fee rate when estimating your margins.
Who should use Share & Save
- Sellers with a social media following — if you already drive traffic to your shop from Instagram, TikTok, or a blog, using affiliate links means you capture the rebate instead of leaving it on the table.
- Sellers who buy their own products for content — some creators use affiliate links even for their own purchases to get the rebate (check Etsy’s terms on this).
- Sellers who collaborate with influencers — if someone else promotes your shop, Share & Save can give you a cut of the affiliate fee that would otherwise go entirely to the promoter.
Bottom line
Share & Save is a nice bonus for sellers who already drive their own traffic, but it’s not a game-changer for margins. The 4% rebate on 6.5% works out to roughly 0.26 percentage points of savings — noticeable at volume, but not something to build your pricing strategy around without confirming the current terms with Etsy directly.
The information in this article is based on publicly available descriptions of the Share & Save program. The percentage and rules are not yet verified against the official Etsy help page. Confirm the current terms on Etsy’s website before relying on these numbers for business decisions.
