Etsy Fees Calculator for Spain Sellers
Spanish Etsy sellers deal with a 21% standard VAT rate plus, currently, a small additional Etsy regulatory operating fee on top of the standard structure — a combination that makes Spain one of the markets where the full fee stack is worth walking through line by line rather than estimating. As everywhere in the EU, whether VAT applies to Etsy's own fees (as opposed to VAT you may charge your buyers) depends entirely on whether you've registered a NIF/VAT number with Etsy. Without one, 21% Spanish VAT is added to the listing fee, transaction fee, payment processing fee, and the regulatory operating fee itself. Register that number and reverse charge applies — Etsy removes VAT from its fees and the reporting responsibility moves to you.
- Listing Fee −€0.22 incl. €0.04 VAT
- Transaction Fee −€2.36 incl. €0.41 VAT
- Payment Processing −€1.82 incl. €0.32 VAT
- Regulatory Operating Fee −€0.31 incl. €0.05 VAT
Etsy + fees take 15.7% of your revenue.
Estimate: USD fees use the ECB reference rate of 20 July 2026. Payment processing can be a few cents higher when Etsy includes marketplace-collected buyer tax.

What Spain sellers need to know
Spain's autónomo (self-employed) registration is a separate matter from VAT registration with Etsy specifically, and conflating the two is one of the most common mistakes we see among Spanish sellers. Being a registered autónomo doesn't automatically mean Etsy has your VAT number on file — that's a distinct step, and skipping it means paying VAT on fees you might not need to.
The base fee mechanics match the EU standard: a small flat listing fee converted from USD to EUR, a 6.5% transaction fee calculated on the full order value including shipping, and a payment processing fee based on the seller's payment-account country rather than the buyer's location. The additional regulatory operating fee is calculated as a percentage of your order total and carries VAT where applicable.
On reporting, Spain follows the EU-wide DAC7 threshold of 30 sales or €2,000 per calendar year, after which Etsy reports your sales data to the Agencia Tributaria. That's a reporting trigger, not an automatic tax liability — worth remembering those are two separate things.
Plug your own numbers into the calculator above and toggle VAT registration to see exactly what it's worth for a typical Spanish order.
Worked examples
A €15 handmade item, domestic buyer, no VAT number
Revenue €18.50 → total fees €3.12 → Etsy payout €15.38 (16.9% effective fee rate).
A €60 order, EU buyer, VAT-registered
Revenue €60.00 → total fees €7.31 → Etsy payout €52.69 (12.2% effective fee rate).
A €12 digital download, buyer outside the EU, Offsite Ads active
Revenue €12.00 → total fees €4.41 → Etsy payout €7.59 (36.8% effective fee rate).
Frequently asked questions
Does Spain have an additional Etsy fee beyond VAT?
Yes — Spain currently carries a small Etsy regulatory operating fee on top of the standard listing, transaction, and payment processing fees. See VERIFICATION.md for the current sourced rate.
Is being a registered autónomo the same as having a VAT number with Etsy?
No — these are separate registrations. Being an autónomo doesn't automatically mean Etsy has a VAT number on file for you; that's a step you need to complete with Etsy directly.
Does the regulatory operating fee also get VAT added?
Yes, under the same rules as every other Etsy fee — VAT applies unless you have a VAT number registered with Etsy (reverse charge).
What is the DAC7 threshold for Spanish sellers?
30 sales or €2,000 in a calendar year, reported to the Agencia Tributaria.
