Vinted Pro vs Personal Account: Which One Fits Your Selling?

The difference between a personal and a Pro account is not a sales-count switch. It is the difference between selling your own unwanted things and acting as a professional seller.

Vinted describes its Pro service as being for eligible registered businesses that sell high volumes of second-hand items as part of a professional activity. A personal account is the normal fit when you are clearing out clothes and other belongings you already owned.

If you source stock to resell or organise the activity as a business, the important question is not “Have I reached 30 sales?” It is whether your activity is genuinely commercial.

Personal and Pro at a glance

Vinted’s current Pro service help page says eligible members can convert a standard account or create a separate account for professional selling. Its Pro information also says a standard account may be kept alongside a separate Pro account. Follow the signup instructions shown for your own market, including any requirement to use different contact details.

Do not use two accounts to duplicate stock or make commercial listings look personal. A separate personal account should remain genuinely personal.

When personal selling starts to look professional

There is no universal answer based on one number. Selling wardrobe items is different from buying stock to resell for profit.

Useful indicators of professional activity include:

• buying or sourcing items specifically for resale;
• selling repeatedly and in an organised way;
• holding stock and setting prices to make a margin;
• presenting yourself as a business; and
• relying on the activity as a regular source of income.

National tax and business-registration rules decide your legal status. Vinted also applies its own account rules. If the facts point in different directions, ask the relevant authority and Vinted support rather than relying on an account label.

The often-quoted 30 sales or €2,000 figures do not decide whether you are a business. They are DAC7 platform-reporting thresholds. Being reported under DAC7 is not the same as owing tax, and staying below a reporting threshold does not turn a professional trade into private selling. Does Vinted Pro cost more?

Vinted currently presents ordinary listing and selling through Pro as free. Buyer Protection is charged to the buyer, while optional visibility services and other extras can still cost money.

That does not mean a professional sale has no costs. A Pro seller may have:

• item acquisition and packaging costs;
• optional promotion or shipping-service costs;
• returns and after-sales costs;
• bookkeeping, registration and insurance costs; and
• tax or VAT obligations depending on the business and country.

It deliberately does not calculate Vinted’s Buyer Protection fee: Vinted says that buyer-side fee varies with item characteristics, order value and whether the order is a single item or a bundle. Without a complete official formula, any fixed calculator would sometimes give the wrong answer.

Tax is separate too. The calculator does not decide whether VAT or a second-hand margin scheme applies to your business. Those rules are country- and transaction-specific.

What changes for buyers when you are Pro

Professional sellers have consumer-law duties that private sellers generally do not have in the same form. Vinted’s Pro seller guide says Pro sellers must provide required business and product information, comply with applicable consumer law and support the buyer’s legal right of withdrawal.

The guide currently describes a 14-calendar-day withdrawal period starting after delivery, subject to legal exceptions. It also explains that buyers may have legal warranties and that Pro sellers need to provide business and complaint information through their profile and additional policies.

Before switching, decide how you will:

• record sales and returns;
• keep the business information on your profile current;
• describe defects and item condition consistently;
• handle withdrawal requests and complaints; and
• separate personal possessions from business inventory.

Vinted supplies platform terms, but the seller remains responsible for business registration, social and tax obligations that apply locally.

Can you keep a personal account as well?

Vinted’s Pro information says a member can create a separate Pro account alongside a standard account. That is not permission to run two interchangeable shops. Keep the purpose, inventory and login details separated, and follow the current signup instructions for your region.

Anecdotes about automatic bans are not policy evidence, and no article can guarantee that a legitimate account will never be flagged. Keep your registration evidence and contact support if Vinted asks you to switch status or verify the activity.

Availability depends on your region

Vinted is rolling Pro out by market. Its current global help, marketing and guide pages do not all show the same country scope, and some pages redirect to local terms. For that reason, we do not publish a static “all supported countries” list here.

Open Vinted while signed into the market where your business is registered. Confirm that Pro signup is available and read the local Pro terms shown during registration. A list copied from another country’s page can be wrong for your account even when it came from an official Vinted domain.

A simple decision check

Stay with a personal account when you are genuinely selling your own unwanted belongings and are not operating as a trader.

Check Pro eligibility when you source stock, sell systematically for profit or have registered the activity as a business. If Pro is unavailable in your region, that does not remove local business and consumer-law obligations; it means you need to ask Vinted whether your professional activity can use that market.

Whichever account you use, keep the classification question separate from pricing. First decide what kind of seller you are. Then use your real purchase, packaging, postage and optional promotion costs to find the minimum profitable Vinted price.
